Attend this in-person come-and-go event to network, gain knowledge and jump-start your career plan. Pre-registration is recommended, but not required. Students are welcome to pre-book up to two 10-minute meetings with specific employers at the event, using the link below. Drop-in and walk-up appointments are also available on a first-come, first-served basis - to meet with a specific employer or any employer representative. All students must visit the check-in table when they arrive at the event.

Meet one-on-one with employers from different industry sectors. Get their professional opinion on:

• gaining skills that are transferable across industries and positions
• enhancing your resume, CV, or cover letter
• preparing for an interview
• experiences valued in their field
• other topics you may have about the world of work

Representatives from the following organizations will be attending and providing advice: 

• Birchwood
• Canada Life
• Government of Manitoba (STEP Services)
• Manitoba Metis Federation
• People Corporation
• Skip the Dishes
• St. Amant
• University of Manitoba
• Wawanesa Insurance 

These employer professionals can speak to a wide range of career paths and roles, including:

• Administration
• Human resources and talent acquisition
• Finance and accounting
• IT and technical roles
• Customer service and client experience
• Marketing and communications
• Community and social services
• Government and public sector careers

There are many industries and over 30,000 occupations to consider! UM Career Consultants will also be on hand to help you explore career options, industry resources and provide additional career planning and job search guidance.

• How can I enhance my resumé? What general resumé tips can you provide?
• As an employer, what's your job search advice?
• What skills can I develop now to increase my employability?
• What type of experiences do employers in this field value?
• What interview questions and hiring practices are common in this industry?
• How should I structure my cover letter?

Sample questions to ask a UM Career Consultant: 

• What occupations and types of jobs might I consider with an interest in….?
• What types of jobs and industries connect with my area of study?
• What can I do now to increase my employability when I graduate?
• What summer or part-time jobs relate to my career goal?
• What career-related volunteer opportunities could I consider?
