The ELA Hack-a-thon hosted by IISD (International Institute of Sustainable Development) will be taking place from October 23rd to November 6th, for teams of 2-5 individuals.
Deadline to register is October 8th!
Work alongside like-minded peers to use a dataset that has been tracking the health of Canada's fresh water for over 50 years to build solutions to real environmental issues-and help protect Canada's precious fresh water supplies. Build a data product from start to finish, collaborate with a team, and work with established experts in the field who spend their days tackling issues from pollution and biodiversity loss to climate change. Challenges include creating a Freshwater Health Assessment App, Water Sampler's Targeting App and a Water Data Dashboard Builder.
This Hack-a-thon is best suited for technology students and young professionals with a background in tech & interest in environmental issues. For tech students, grads and young professionals they should have some knowledge of coding, data science, or software design. ISSD would welcome participants with other IT related experience such as UX design or Web Development.
There will be an in person kick-off event at University of Winnipeg & Wilfried Laurier University , followed by the hack-a-thon which will be done virtually. Open to registrants Canada wide.
